Are you excellent at financial management?  Our team is seeking a motivated individual who will foster the organic growth of MedThink SciCom.  You will develop plans for future publication and medical communications work.  Leadership and mentoring are part of your nature. Under guidance, driving client forecast and ensuring successful execution of projects will be critical to your success.  You will provide direct-line management to all personnel within a designated Account Services client team.  As an Associate Account Director, you are an essential team member who will provide ultimate oversight of client relationships.

Position Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum), preferably in the health sciences, marketing or communications field; advanced degree or allied health degree a plus (PharmD, BSN, PhD, MS)

Experience:

  • 7-10+ years of pharmaceutical and/or medical communications agency experience
  • Extensive experience estimating costs and developing budgets
  • Prior supervisory experience and the ability to motivate others to attain goals
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, both within the agency and with clients

 Position Responsibilities

Demonstrates behavior expected of a professional member of the organization, including but not limited to:

  • Client management
    • Ensures that the resources of the agency, department by department, are deployed with continued maximum effectiveness in line with the client’s best interest
    • Contributes to the development of strategic communication (publication, advocacy development, and medical communication) plans
    • Frequently meets with client (in person or via phone) regarding projects and client direction
    • Guides, advises, assists, and stimulates team in developing and presenting new proposals to their clients, including incorporation of digital technologies
    • Recommends manpower needs of account group for client
    • Leads budgeting process
    • Collaborates with DAS to prepare annual client fee budget and to ensure budgets are updated as necessary
    • Initiates and attends all meetings in which important strategies and plans are discussed
    • Responsible for revenue and write-offs of account and keeping DAS informed of any issues in this regard
    • Identifies opportunities with clients to expand agency business within and across departments
  • Scientific and design output
    • Reviews and approves client/brand backgrounder prior to project kickoff meeting
    • Reviews and approves briefing document and all content created
    • Ultimately responsible for ensuring that creative and scientific output is on strategy, on message, and clearly exceeds the client’s expectations
  • Project management
    • Identifies areas of potential weakness within the agency and works with team directors to find solutions
    • Ensures team is following agency processes
    • Works with other team directors and DAS to ensure a consistent
  • Organic growth/Agency management
    • As time permits, actively identifies and follows up on organic growth and new business leads
    • Provides AS/SAE with research direction
    • Develops proposals
    • Approves pre and post mailings
    • Ensures internal relationships between account group and other agency departments are productive and problem free
    • Provides DAS with recommendations to improve the agency or better customize services to meet client’s needs
    • Anticipates and meets client’s needs
  • Personnel management
    • Works with HR and DAS to recruit and hire AE/SAE/AS
    • Supervises AE/SAE/AS and supports their training
    • Manages AE/SAE/AS billable hours goal (eg, 1650/year)
    • Identifies and provides developmental opportunities for AE/SAE/AS
    • Conducts AE/SAE/AS annual and midterm performance reviews
    • Understands the expertise of internal team members and utilizes those resources responsibly to ensure high quality output and time efficiency
    • Manages, develops, and trains account team members in collaboration with DAS and is instrumental in maintaining staffing efficiencies
