Medical Content Strategist

Under the direction of the Medical Strategist(s) and the Head of Medical Strategy, the Medical Content Strategist is responsible for ensuring the scientific, clinical, and regulatory accuracy of all content of all client deliverables across a host of communication channels (eg, print, digital, TV, mobile). They are an integral part of core brand team(s) and works with other departments (eg, accounts, brand strategy, creative) to drive the brand forward. This role requires extreme attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to retrieve, comprehend, and interpret scientific literature.  

What it takes  

  • Reviews all marketing materials (eg, sales aids, journal ads, slide presentations, websites, emails, TV ads, and print materials) for assigned brand(s) 
  • Functions as clinical resource for core brand teams, including having a knowledge of this relevant literature for a brand and fact-checking pieces for scientific and clinical accuracy 
  • With the Medical Strategist, functions as a regulatory resource for the core brand team, including having a knowledge of relevant FDA guidance 
  • Edit all deliverables for organization, style, flow, accuracy and clarity of message for intended audience 
  • With the core brand team, works to unsure that the objective of each piece is met and advocates for appropriate use of any product claims (eg, approved copy, images, graphs) 
  • Identifies, assimilates, and interprets appropriate medical insights, facts, and data to foster the planning and creative processes for the client and agency team 
  • Follows direction, adheres to deadlines, and tracks with overall workflow 
  • Consults with medical strategist(s) and department head as appropriate at strategic and tactical levels 
  • Helps identify barriers, positioning, and strategies from a medical/scientific perspective 
  • Identifies and accesses appropriate resources as necessary (published literature, market research, insights, etc)

What it takes

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline (bachelor’s or advanced degree in clinical or biological sciences preferred) 
  • Agency experience (2-5 years) in the pharmaceutical/medical/science industry required 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Adobe 
  • Pays close attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple projects and work under pressure 
  • Must be able to provide scientific and medical expertise across a broad range of therapeutic categories 
  • An understanding of medical concepts/terminology and ability to present research data; familiar with searching medical literature 
  • Uses logic and established methods to research and retrieve critical data; synthesize the relevant data, and provide scientific analyses to the brand teams
