Medical Content Strategist

The medical strategist is responsible for ensuring organization and accuracy of clinical information in virtually every medium (print, digital, TV, mobile) and at every stage of development. The strategist is an integral part of their team(s) and works together to drive the brand forward. 


What it takes

  • Functions as medical content strategist and clinical resource, including fact-checking for accuracy
  • Reviews all marketing materials (eg, sales aids, journal ads, slide presentations, websites, emails, TV ads, and patient materials including instructional videos) for assigned brand(s).
  • Edits for organization, style, flow, accuracy and clarity of message, and adherence to client/brand and FDA guidelines; proofreads at every round
  • Understands the objective of each piece and advocates for appropriate use of any product claims, images, footnotes, references, etc
  • Identifies, assimilates, and interprets appropriate medical insights, facts, and data to foster the planning and creative processes for the client and agency team
  • Follows direction, adheres to deadlines, and tracks with overall workflow
  • Consults with medical lead as appropriate at strategic and tactical levels
  • Helps identify barriers, positioning, and strategies from a medical/scientific perspective
  • Identifies and accesses appropriate resources as necessary (published literature, market research, insights, etc) 

Know-how

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree or 2 years of related experience in the pharmaceutical/medical/science industry required. Advanced degree in clinical or biological sciences preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Adobe
  • Pays close attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple projects and work under pressure
  • Must be able to provide scientific and medical expertise across a broad range of therapeutic categories
  • An understanding of medical concepts/terminology and ability to present research data; familiar with searching medical literature
  • Uses logic and established methods to research and retrieve critical data; is excellent at honest analysis; probes all sources for answers; can see hidden problems; looks beyond the obvious and doesn’t stop at the first answers
