What a phenomenal year! Our business grew nearly 40 percent again, and we are knocking on the door of $50 million in revenue. But as is the case with Fingerpaint, we don’t measure our successes based on dollars and cents. It’s all about our people. And by focusing, as we always do, on our culture, 2018 was a grand slam.
The year kicked off with a wonderful, four-day, company-wide retreat to Scottsdale, Ariz., to celebrate our 10th anniversary as a company. Fingerpainters were treated to amazing dinners in the desert, horseback riding, mountain biking, team building, and inspirational talks by company leaders. It was a celebration worthy of such a special company.
Nearly 7,000 candidates and more than 700 interns applied to work at Fingerpaint in 2018. Of those, we brought on 84 superstars and another 36 incredibly ambitious interns. Additionally, we promoted 16 Fingerpainters this year and gave spot bonuses to more than 80 people for exceeding expectations.
Our Fingerpaint family celebrated three marriages and six engagements, along with eight babies—a wonderful benefit of work/life balance. Thirteen employees embarked on their sabbaticals, a four-week reprieve after five years of service. Adventures included everything from European vacations to long respites on the beaches of Cape Cod.
All of this success has enabled us to continue to drive our core value of philanthropy. In 2018, we made financial contributions to 65 different charities, while reaching thousands through additional donations of our time and talent. Our people volunteered at a whole host of organizations in need, ranging from the Special Olympics Polar Plunge to Operation Lunch Lady, where we donated more than 65,000 meals to food pantries in each of our communities.
Looking Forward to 2019
This year will be another one for the books. Our new Phoenix, Ariz., office location is firing on all cylinders, as are our large offices in Conshohocken, Pa., and Saratoga Springs, NY. And our new office in Morristown, NJ, is off and running thanks to the leadership of Mark Willmann, Nick Megjugorac, and Tracy Blackwell. Furthermore, Colleen Carter is joining us in early 2019 as our first head of marketing and new business, which will elevate our brand to even greater heights within the health and wellness marketing space.
And be on the lookout for my first book, published with help from Forbes, which will outline the importance of a positive culture to succeed in the advertising world. It is scheduled to launch in the spring.
